    Matthew Pearson is the Director of Bands of the “Spirit of º£½ÇÖ±²¥ Band”. He was on the original opening staff of º£½ÇÖ±²¥ High School in 2005. He has taken the band to 3 consecutive appearances at the Texas State Marching Contest in conference 4A & 5A, 2007, 2009, & 2010. Under his baton, the Spirit of º£½ÇÖ±²¥ band has consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes awards.

    Mr. Pearson began his teaching career at Lynn Lucas Middle School in Willis, TX. He has also taught in the Groesbeck Independent School District. Mr. Pearson has been with EMS ISD at º£½ÇÖ±²¥ High School since 2005.

    Mr. Pearson is a native of Longview, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University-Commerce where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Trombone Performance. While at TAMU-Commerce, he studied trombone with Jimmy Clark and conducting with Bobby Francis and Dr. Jeff Emge.

    Mr. Pearson is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster’s Association, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, International Trombone Association, and Kappa Alpha Order.

    Jenn Giba is the Director of Percussion for º£½ÇÖ±²¥ High School, as well as Prairie Vista Middle School and Highland Middle School.  Duties include teaching the High School Drumline, instructing the percussion ensembles, teaching the 6th-grade beginning percussion classes, and assisting with the high school and middle school concert bands. 

    Ms. Giba received her Bachelor’s degree Cum Laude in Music Education from Texas Christian University in May of 2015 with a concentration in percussion. During her time at TCU, Ms. Giba participated in and performed with many successful ensembles including the TCU Drumline, Percussion Ensembles, Steel Bands, and Bass Ensemble, as well as the TCU Orchestra and Wind Symphony. As a member of these groups, Ms. Giba has traveled and performed at various conventions and competitions across the country winning multiple awards and titles. She studied with Dr. Richard Gipson, Dr. Brian West, Joey Carter, Dave Hall, and many others.

    Ms. Giba comes to º£½ÇÖ±²¥ High School from Frisco where she was the Assistant Percussion Director for the cluster for the 2015-2016 school year.   While teaching in Frisco, Ms. Giba marched bass drum with Vigilantes Indoor Percussion. The group placed 1st in Open-Class Championships in Dayton, Ohio with a score of 97.475 and was undefeated during the season. During her summers at TCU, Ms. Giba traveled and performed with the West Percussion Group, playing concerts in the Sydney Opera House, The Royal College of Music, The Beach of Normandy, and Italy.

    Ms. Giba’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Percussive Arts Society.
