• Forms and Timelines
During the school year, there will be different open nomination times for students to be evaluated for GT services. At the elementary level, a letter will go home notifying parents when these times have started for each grade.

The open nomination time for Kindergarten and 5th graders begins in mid-October, while 1st-4th grade students will be nominated in March.

During the month of February, all second-grade students in our district will be given Cognitive Abilities tests in their homeroom classes. The results of the tests give information about each student’s reasoning ability in verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal areas. These scores will help determine GT identification.

Students transferring from other districts that were identified as GT are not automatically placed in the PACE program. Evidence of participation in a previous program is obtained and scores are placed on EMS ISD’s testing matrix.  If additional testing is needed, the student will receive the testing.

Open nominations for high school students will be taken the first week of November and the first week of March. For middle school students, open nominations will be taken the first week of November and the first week in February. Parents may nominate their students for testing.

Open nominations for Kindergarten and 5th grade will begin in mid-October.
